PM Modi Meets Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos to Expand Indian Storytelling Across the Globe
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos on August 5 to discuss India's media and entertainment sector as Netflix marked 10 years in India and launched a new storytelling initiative to train creators and support emerging talent.
The meeting coincided with Netflix's 10th anniversary in India and the launch of the Netflix India Storytelling Initiative. The multi-phase program has been introduced in partnership with Indian institutes to train creators in animation, visual effects, gaming, and comics.
As part of the initiative, Netflix will offer 100 scholarships while equipping participants with skills to create accessible content. The program is aimed at supporting emerging talent and strengthening creative capabilities across multiple storytelling formats.
Highlighting Netflix's presence in India, Sarandos said the platform has produced more than 200 Indian original titles filmed across 100 locations. He underscored the company's commitment to nurturing emerging talent while positioning India as a global hub for content creation.
The discussions between Modi and Sarandos reflected the growing focus on enhancing the reach of Indian stories worldwide, alongside developing new opportunities for creators through industry-led training and skill development initiatives.
